After Queen Anne vetoed the ban on the importation of slavery, the
American Quakers became more active than ever in the slave business. But
after the unsuccessful attempts of men like, Lay, Sandiford, Farmer,
Southeby, to the take the place of men like Irish Hammer and Fox, along
came John Woolman, the greatest Quaker of the 18th century.
He chose the truly Quaker way of love.
