Apparently, Jean-Louis Trinignant was the voice of HAL
in the French dub, except that HAL was called CARL
(Centre anlytique de recherche et de liaison) and sang
"Au clair de lune" instead of "A Bicycle Built for
Two" at the bitter end.  Chion's also written nifty
books on David Lynch and Jacques Tati (q.v.), they are
available in Eng. trans. ...
