It's actually quite simple. There is ethical bio-technology, such as
eradicating leprosy and typhoid through finding vaccines and implementing
immunisation programs, or encouraging and providing the technology for
contraception in, for example, African communities where it's needed, or
wiring up and "remote controlling" disabled people to restore the use of
their limbs (which is where the rat came into it), and unethical
bio-technology, such as germ warfare and 'Attack of the Clones'-type
scenarios (and George Lucas films in general, I'd say). If the contention is
that *all* bio-technology is "bad" and should be stopped then I strongly
disagree with it.

"In the Infancy Gospel of Thomas, you see, Jesus as a Boy made
small, as you'd say, toy Golems out of Clay,-- Sparrows that flew,
Rabbits that hopp'd. Golem fabrication is integral to the Life of
Jesus, and thence to Christianity." (486.19-22)

At least, that's what one of the voices in Pynchon's most recent novel sez.

PS Sorry, I don't really understand this point, or who you're ranting at
below, or why. Perhaps an aspirin and a good lie down . . . ;)
