Okay, thanks. I do hope that, when I've included
links to non-English sites (and I've made an effort at
times, esp. when dealing with texts in translation),
I've managed to at least get 'em right ...

Well, was, now. Despite a lapse ca. Thursday/Friday,
New York is great, albeit not quite what I expected.
Clean, cheap (except for movies, up to $10, and no
matinee pricing), polite. No muggings,
purse-snatching, prostitution, illegal drug use,
violence, et al. And the Guggenheim spiral was black,
but ...

But, anyone in town, do see the Gerhard Richter
retrospective at MOMA (coming to the Art Institute
[Chicago] next; and MOMA's moving to Queens for a few
years soon, so ...), as well as the Russian
avant-garde book show; "Desire Unbound" (surrealism)
at the Met; "Mirroring Evil" (contemporary Holocaust
art) at the Jewish Museum; "Brazil: Body and Soul" at
the aforementioned Guggenheim; the Henry Darger shows
going on at either American Folk Art Museum bldg. (the
old one Lincoln Center, the new one next to MOMA), the
Star Wars exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum of Art (same
one that was at the Museum of Science and Industry
[Chicago] a few years back, but with Episode I stuff,
and Episode II stuff beginning May 16th); The Whitney
Biennial; Cloaca is gone at the New Museum for
Contemporary Art, but check out their shop, the
selection of books alone ...

Enigma, Sade, The Piano Teacher, Girls Can't Swim,
Karmen Gei, The Salton Sea and, esp., Murderous Maids
(more acurately titled Psychotic Incestuous Lesbian
Maids Who Coincidentally Just So Happen to Murder, but
...), and, when it finally arrives (my one major
disappointment) on May 24th (was supposed to be April
19th), Master of the Flying Guillotine ...

Anyway, good to be back (though not so much at home as
on the list). Special thanks to jbor for starting in
in the wake of my flaking out. But I just couldn't
resist. Keep going, will attempt to provide
complementary notes ...
