Had to look it up. The OED says the word means something like "a tedious and lengthy refutation". I wouldn't know whether "Focault's Pendulum" was intended 
by Mr. Eco as a "jobation upon your faults as one of P's obsessive readers", but it certainly is lengthy and tedious. And yes, I would take it personally.
