Hello,

Mr. Millison thinks that reading a Pynchon novel is a
political act. He is persuaded that what he is doing
in the name of Pynchon is justifiable. It is not. The
novel's greatest passion is its neutrality. What
shocks Mr. Millson's false virtue delights Terrance
the chameleon poet. The novel, the poem, even the
limerick, does not harm from its relish of the dark
side of things any more than from its taste for the
bright one; because they both end in speculation. We
should fear those who look for an author's tendency
between the lines, and are determined to regard an
author, artist, and poet, as either liberal or
conservative. It is understood that Mr. Millison's
characterization of readers as either democrats or
fascists is contemptible. His racist and misogynist
comments are outrageous. The owners of this list
should have stopped his lynching of Terrance.

Bye,

Arthur Bryant
