SLSL Intro: poorly written?

I'm assuming AA is Agape Agape and FW Finnegans Wake. (?)  I don't see that 
there is any similar game being played by the authors of these books, nor 
that the game is "confusing the reader."  The books are quite dissimilar.  

I see no reason simply to conclude that TRP (to stick to him) was 
intentionally trying to confuse the reader in GR.
