A remote possibility.
Q: Why would the public buy a book of badly written
stories with a bad Introduction if the author of both
was a bad writer?
A: If the author was M&M or some other hot celeb.

Maybe, but I doubt it. He had to go back and read the
stories. He says he thought about editing them or
rewriting them. I think it's obvious from his comments
about them that he spent a considerable amount of time
on the Introduction. I agree with what you wrote
previously, that Pynchon writes op-eds&co. As op-eds
they still don't get in my paper. Not unless they are
submitted by a guy named Pynchon.
