...--might as well mention here that much of what the dossiers call
Pirate Prentice is a strange talent for--well, for getting inside the
fantasies of others: being able, actually, to take over the burden of
managing them,...(GR 11-12).
For today our pirate 'prentice
Rises from indentures
freed;
Strong his arm, and keen his
scent is
He's a pirate now indeed!
ALL: Here's good luck to Fred'ric's
ventures!
Fred'ric's out of his
indentures.
SAMUEL: Two and twenty, now he's rising,
And alone he's fit to
fly,
Which we're bent on signalizing
With unusual revelry.
ALL: Here's good luck to Fred'ric's
ventures!
Fred'ric's out of his
indentures.
Pour, O pour the pirate sherry;
Fill, O fill the pirate
glass;
And, to make us more than merry
Let the pirate bumper
pass.
Lest we forget all social decorum, enter the "Anti-pirate," sounding
suspiciously learn'd:
I am the very model of a modern Major-General,
I've information vegetable, animal, and
mineral,
I know the kings of England, and I quote
the fights
historical
From Marathon to Waterloo, in order
categorical;
I'm very well acquainted, too, with
matters
mathematical,
I understand equations, both the
simple and
quadratical,
About binomial theorem I'm teeming with a lot
o' news,
With many cheerful facts about the square
of the
hypotenuse.
