While the introduction I think is at LEAST as
interesting as the short stories, I would not object
to shortshrifting it at the beginning, maybe blowing
throw it in double time, as it will undoubtedly keep
returning to haunt subsequent readings, as it now
haunts every reading of those Pynchonian texts. 
Besides, I've already noted a few things to annotate,
so ...
