Rhetoric Smeterick. If you swear to uphold the Constitution of the
United States and you are duly elected by your constituency to do so,
you have to demonstrate that you have the courage to vote your
conscience. If a Senator hasn't got the guts to vote against an
outrageous resolution like this one because she fears being branded a
traitor or soft on terrorism she should resign. Better that every seat
in that august chamber be vacant than filled with men and women so
possessive and protective of their own political careers and ambitions
that they are willing to send men and women to certain death to keep in
their seats.
