Found this while searching the Web for historical background to M&D (i.e.,
EIC, Lord Clive, the Black Hole of Calcutta, etc.)

UCLA history professor's Vinay Lal well-designed and well-organized site
includes many thumbnail sketches of important figures and incidents in
Indian history.  Filled with useful reference material for those exploring
M&D contextually, it also provides a valuable, hyper-linked overview of
Indian culture in its historical setting.  The relevant pages on the
