I agree. I suspect that keeping the oil price above 18$ is the main reason
why Putin opposes a war on Iraq and is against a regime change.

Yes, and building up Afghanistan together with the Dutch and other
NATO-partners. But if the war starts we won't have the money for that. We
will take our troops back home then.
There can be no doubt that alternative energies (to free ourselves from the
oil) are on the agenda. It's true, we have a law to close down all nuclear
plants within the next thirty years. And any attempt by future conservative
governments to change this will lead to a situation close to civil war.
