The Journal for the Academic Study of Magic, a
multidisciplinary,
peer-reviewed print publication, is seeking
submissions for its first
edition, to be published in 2003. Scholarly articles
in English of up to
8000 words, book reviews and the like are welcomed. We
aim to cover all
areas of magic, witchcraft, paganism etc; all
geographical regions and all historical periods.
Submissions should be sent to Dave Evans via e-mail
attachment at
Dave.Evans at Bristol.ac.uk or by regular mail to: Alison
Butler,
Department of Historical Studies, University of
Bristol, 13 Woodland Road,
Clifton, Bristol, UK BS8 1AD. Please enclose an SAE or
IRC if you require
postal
acknowledgement of receipt. Deadline: November 30th,
2002
Essays should be prepared according to the MHRA style
guide (5th edition).
For those who do not have immediate access to the
style guide please email
the above @Bristol for some brief notes.
Please submit drafts as e-mail attachments, and if
possible in Word Rich
Text Format (.rtf). When saving your file, this can be
selected
from the 'File Type' option in the 'Save' box. It
enables the file to be
read on far more types of computer than the regular
Word Document (.doc)
format, and reduces the chances of spreading Macro
viruses. Do save in the
format you prefer before saving as an RTF file. In
parallel with the Journal
we will be running an academic conference at Bristol,
UK in April 2003.The
call for papers for this event will follow.
