Happy turkey day to all Canadian listers (I think me and one other guy who
cant figure out how to unsubscribe)
Yes, we here, near where the tree line becomes the DEW line, celebrate
thanksgiving some one month before those in the recalcitrant colonies who
think they have permanently cast off the crown. We do so, now in October,
due to a long and rich tradition, embedded in our national identity,
inseperable from our national soul.
err... well...ahhh...
"In 1967 Parliament proclaimed the second Monday in October to be the
official day, which rankled farmers who were still harvesting in many parts
of the country and could not celebrate. E.C. Drury, a farmer and former
Premier of Ontario, said the farmers own holiday had been stolen by the
towns who wanted a three day weekend when the weather was still good."
And it is a beautiful day at that! (Breaks into Oh Canada...)
