I think, despite Doug's attempt to label us all bush supporting
republicans and warmongers so that he may argue with his shadows, all 12
participating subscribers to this list are either already democrats (the
party of Daschle, Gephardt, Clinton, Byrd), vote democratic as the
lesser of two evils, are so-called third party (greens, communists)
supporters, anarchists, Bartlebys, etc.
What's disturbing is not the republican warmongering support on this
list, cause there is none, or even the democratic support, which is
mostly very bad regurgitated propaganda (from the press, alternative or
otherwise), like the propaganda that we keep reading here about how the
democrats were forced to vote for the war resolution, or the bickering,
but the fact that this is supposed to be a Pynchon List and it seems
that we, the 12 angry men, have decided that we can sit like a jury and
deliberate on the guilt of the world and neglect Pynchon entirely.
Bush needed Bi-partisan support and he needed to get his resolution
passed quickly. The Democrats delivered on both counts.
the Senate approved the House-passed measure without changing a single
word. Daschle delivered 29 Democrats in the Senate and House Minority
Leader Richard Gephardt, Democrat of Mo gave him Democratic support in
the House (81
House Democrats voted to expand the President's war powers).
Was I expecting anything different? Hell no. Just want to make sure we
don't give all the credit to the President.
BTW, Otto, when I have a big party here in NYC, real or imagined, you
are invited.
We need all the union men we can get round here.
