It is a good opera -- a nice little chamber opera -- but I'm sorry to
correct you, it's actually by Michael Nyman.

I also "second" the nomination for Glass' "Shorts." The Iranian film is
especially good. I just saw his latest opera, "Galileo," and it was
wonderful. Although Glass is not a Pynchon fan, he has turned to some pretty
good sources for his work in the past -- Beckett, Kafka, Rumi, Lessing,
Cocteau....
