His "carrer?" What is a "career" for a musician who's rich and has extablished
icon status? If he doesn't produce music for a long while does that mean his
"career" is "inthe toilet?" I object to this and all the rest of your
characterizations below. Simon is nothing if not first a poet, a song-writer.
If the music he's inspired by is from South Africa, if that music is the
vehicle for his artistry, how dare you denegrate that? There is a
reverse-racism implied in this comment. It is a very cheap shot. _Graceland_
and the Brazilian-inspired _Rhythm of the Saints_ album that followed it were
beautiful.

I'll study them. I'll write a whole bunch of songs that sound just like them.
To make it sound really authentic, I'll hire you at union scale to play on my
record that sounds just like your songs. People will pat me on the back for
being such a cool guy who is so nice to give you a job. I'll keep the millions
in royalties. I won't record any of your songs that mine sound just like
because then I would have to share. I'm so proud that I did Ladysmith Black
Mambazo such a huge favor when people started calling me Mr. Brickell.
