Any Rand

Otto is correct in his observations below. Rand's problem is one of extremism,
an inability to acknowlege the inescapable grey areas of working systems, which
is why she makes the first statement below, which is absolutely correct. She
wants a "fully free capitalist system," which means the smallest possible
(none, if it were possible) public, commonly owned realm. Libertarian Anarchy
would be her ideal. What she can't escape is that we have to share, and we all
benefit from, a public infrastructure and implicit or explicit social contracts
which do not vanish when one claims independence and private property.

Rand's best book, IMHO, is her first, _We the Living_.

right to be a racist factory owner, to discriminate women, blacks & other
minorities because it's happening on his own private property, and it's "evil
collectivism" to force him to end this, to pay justified wages, to stop
pollution and to pay for social security.
