"The navy sent me to Pearl Harbor, where I served on a
frigate, FF 1062, the USS Whipple (please, no toilet
paper jokes!), a Knox-class ship that was almost older
than I was. I had a blast on board (and off), but my
most exciting time was when we were being shadowed by
a Soviet intelligence gathering ship (AGI) disguised
as a fishing trawler."
