The Bible (OT&NT) is the story of a long battle of rival views of God
and man and everything else. Religion is never fixed, it changes. And
it's political. But one thing is constant, the heroes of the bible are
those that challenge the fixed orthodoxy of the prevailing elite. So 
Job, like Adam, Jesus, and Paul, is a hero. 

And Satan? Cain? Judas? 

"A man hath no better thing under the sun, than to eat, and to drink,
and to be merry."
