Doug/Barbara drivel might seem like mainly a Chomskyesque critique of 
U.S. Imperialism. A lot of the same slogans.  But in Doug there is a 
mystical layer that any respectible left perspective on the current 
state of the world would shun like the plague.Creation Spirituality is 
his present enthusiam if I'm not already behind times on my Doug 
watching. C.S. is a neoChristian new age cult designed to exploit the 
yearning in undereducated youth for meaning. Very backward regressive 
stuff. Oddly however Doug seems to have converted Pynchon to these 
beliefs. Gravity's Rainbow and all the rest are chuck full of text 
related to it.  I'll let him explain.
