Depends on who/where you are an how you view the
situation. Not good if you are being repessed by the
government in China cause Bush cut a deal with them.
Not good if you are being murdered in Chechnya cause
there is another deal in the works. Might be a good
thing for a young kid sitting in a tin can out at sea
cause he would rather see some action and come home.
A good thing if you are sitting in an a prsion in Iraq
cause you may be freed if the government is ousted.
All depends on who/where you are and you POV.
And your POV can change and that can be a good thing.
You may oppose the war from an Iraq prison but if
because of the war you are set free you may change
your mind.
Many here are complaining that the US lacks a constant
and moral policy when it comes to war. This kind of
intellectual naval gazing is pretty ignorant of the
working of the world and facts of history. He was our
friend and now we are going to kill him. That's how
the world works. Love & Death.
Chris Hedges had a different POV when he was
reporting from the Front where he would never have
written War Is The Force That Gives Us Meaning. He
needed to hang it up, get out of the wars and reflect
on them to write that book. But he could not have
written that book if had never been at the Front and
been so captivated by the carnage he saw there.
It's what makes the book worth reading I suspect.
