That's right, and I haven't said anything about
Pynchon's beliefs, they are irrelevant to this
discussion as far as I'm concerned, I'm only looking
at what's in the fiction he gives us to read.  The
fictional world he creates includes an afterlife,
personalities that continue to exist after death,
realms of consciousness beyond what science can
account for.  And lots of other stuff, too.
