It's time to admit that, while sections of the book parse, the whole thing is a random jam on certain topics, united by a central metaphor. Marijuana is partially to blame.
This central metaphor I outline in another message.
Here is the second component:
The division of the world into Elect and Preterite or profitable material and waste remains a consistent theme in GR; my suggestion is that "Gravity's Rainbow," as a continuous motion between two points that seem distinct and opposed to humans, is also a plea for humans to abandon moral pretense.
Morality, as that which governs property, is inevitably connected to material ownership of means of production. All you good Marxists know this.
Many people talk about "materialism" without researching the philosophical definition, but what they mean to talk about is paranoid greed: a need to divide the world into safe and unsafe through ownership, individual responsibility, and a lack of a collective goal. (Collectives are seen as necessarily oppressing the individual, who somehow arrived here of his/her own devices without the input or energies of a collective).
Maybe this is why all the emphasis on a zero-sum game?
I guess that's just a topic for another mailing list.

Non-moral systems don't have heresy. Including Gnostic, Quakers and other non-traditional interpretations of Christianity, which as an amalgamation of previous things is not autonomous either.
It's been fun.
