What does "deal with it" mean?  Take its ideas (as
opposed to its social ramifications) seriously (and as
opposed to pretending to take it seriously, lest
violence be committed on one's person by the offended
man of faith).  

Connecting this string to the other, Orwell described
faith as incompatible with maturity.  That seems about
right to me.
