I'm thinking about the Sloth essay that Pynchon
published (in the NY Times), in '93, well in advance
of M&D, but which covered several core issues that we
find more fully developed and articulated -- in
fictional form -- in M&D.  I suspect that this
Foreward provides a glimpse at some of the concerns
we'll find in Pynchon's next novel.
