If I omit anything, I generally indicate it by using
ellipses.  With Pynchon in particular, who often
indulges in them himself, I try to remember to use
bracketed ellipses, even, by which I'll also indicate
whole omitted paragraphs from time to time.  I try to
include as much as seems necessary to get the gist of
whatever I'm citing.  And then some.  The man might
bust me for copyright infringement, but, the quibbles
of some here aside, he can't complain I'm
misrepresenting him.  So, er, in short, yes, intact,
word for word, verbatim, whatever.  Hope that's enough
for you for the time being ...
