Of course there is no such "Left." Hitchens is attempting to justify
his own veering to the Right by creating a "straw movement." If
anything, Osama is the CIA's and Bush's best friend, and the Left's
worst nightmare: a near perfect rationalization for tyranny, allowing,
for example, the inner junta to whisper the name Daniel "this is not 
a bigot" Pipes into the ear of The Dauphin- busy, no doubt, at cup 
and ball- among other diversions, while your freedom smolders.
