1984 Foreword "fascistic disposition"

In Bush America these days (these days in which
Pynchon writes this Foreward), it would be difficult
to throw a rock and NOT hit somebody "of fascistic
disposition," using terms as Pynchon defines them in
this Foreward. It's easy to understand how this might
make some readers nervous, and I expect that's one of
the reasons Pynchon writes as he does. Once again,
voices pipe up here on Pynchon-L to condemn Pynchon --
even prior to a complete reading of Pynchon's text --
when he writes non-fiction instead of straying from
his novels which are enshrined and revered as objets
d'art disconnected from the world in which we live.
