As with so much of this novel we'll need to look at all the examples so
that we can see how and if they add up to anything.

I assume that the movie Praire watched about Clara Bow included some
biographical information on some cuts of her her most famous movie _It_

CB was born poor. Her father was mostly unemployed. He didn't smoke
dope, he drank. Her mother was bit of mystery, strange, crazy, even
tried to kill CB. CB problems with promoters and promotion.

In _IT_, set in the 1920s (and we should look into the 1920's in this
novel, the usual stuff P does when he mixes decades, so the
architecture, gatsby, sexual liberation and so on ... ) welfare workers
attempt to seize the baby of Betty Lou's (played by CB) UNMARRIED and
UNEMPLOYED roommate. BL lies and says the baby is her own. This sets up
a moral conflict. BL quits her job. so on ....

Prairie, we know, has a job. A "regular" teen job at a pizza joint. I-24
has no such job and neither does Zoyd. she's a promoter for these men.
She wants them to get a business going. It will be interesting to see he
work at the retreat.
