During the M&D reading, remaindered copies were so
abundant and cheap I often as not picked 'em up on the
fly as lugged one around. I think I ended up with at
least a copy per chapter hosted, at any rate. But
that Picador ed. isn't scheduled 'til February 2004,
by which time not only will that supply likely be
pretty much dried up, but we'll all likely need
something with a nice shiny new cover on it to buy
(maybe as something brand spanking new looms o'er the
horizon ...?). Maybe Henry Holt is in the process of
shifting its pbks. from Owl to Picador? Isn't Picador
already the imprint for most of the current UK Pynchon
eds.? But based on the difference in production
values betwixt hc. and (Picador USA) pbk. eds. of
Michael Chabon's Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, I'd
say, as one who put a few of 'em throigh their paces,
grab the Owl eds. while you can ...
