Equating Zoyd with Hector works only if you erase the 
distinction Pynchon has made between those who wield
power (Hector, in this instance) and the powerless
(Zoyd). But don't let that stop you from
reinterpreting Zoyd in a way that makes him identical
to his oppressor.

I can see how such a turn has its uses in propping up
and justifying the amoral, bloodthirsty politics of
the heirs to the Reagan/Bush reaction, and it's not at
all surprising coming from a reader who has argued
repeatedly in this forum that Pynchon supports Bush's
so-called war on terrorism with its attendant erosion
of Constitutionally guaranteed civil rights and the
rest of its drift towards _1984_, despite Pynchon's
insisten statements to the contrary since 9-11.
