To the pinkish, yellowish, graying critics, 
and also to the iridescent critics, colored
               like shot silk. 


He sees the sounds, 
                  he hears the colors, 
Feels the inspiration, the humor, the play, 
And the literary small fry cannot
Palm their bubbles off on him as pearly caviar;
He can't be told when one's talking of hares, 
That these are lions, 
                    Tolstoys even!
(And incidentally, the inspired prose writer,
In his eyes, is a book of poems).
