Indeed. I read this as Zoyd suddenly realising that he has been "[e]uchred"
(i.e. defeated, tricked), and not for the first time, by the powers that be
(Van Meter?) who have substituted the sugar glass to make Zoyd's little
performance even more of a fake-out than it ever was. And Hector is just
demonstrating to Zoyd what a patsy he really is.
