"RC and Moonpie..." (VL, Ch 4, p. 35) This gives new flavor to
Mr. Pynchon's character naming... Moonpies, a popular and inexpensive
snack of the south was tied with that old staple, RC Cola, in the 1950's
as a bargain priced snack combination. http://www.moonpie.com/ And,
"MoonPies in music include country artists Lonzo and Oscar's 1951 hit
"Give Me an RC Cola and a MoonPie" to Alabama's "When It All Goes South"
in 2001." http://www.thestate.com/mld/thestate/4259649.htm
A melancholy tune, Moonpie Dreams, is sung by Kate Campbell, a
folk singer, in a voice that might be Moonpie's or even Frenesi's.
