Donkey, just off the old Plaza in Vineland, a bar dated well back into
the fog of the last century." (VL, Ch. 4, p. 41) Well back into the
1900's at least, the steam donkey replaced horse teams in logging
operations. Steam donkeys operated winches by steam power dragging the
logs to the railroad siding. Steam was no longer used by the 1950's.
