Quicksilver

....That's what I kept doing with _Cryptonomicon_ and
I never did get far enough into it to keep reading to
the end.  I'm trying again with _Quicksilver_, a copy
of which I found under the Christmas tree.

Meanwhile, I've just finished reading _The White Bone_
by Barbara Gowdy.  I didn't expect to enjoy it as much
as I did, despite the recommendation that led me to it
--  nice complement to Pynchon's Africa, something
like what I would imagine a novel told from the P.O.V.
of the last dodo could be.
