Interesting that these two novels about American death, or American
death denied, leap so quickly to mind.
Europeans seem to have a knack for observing interesting bits of bizarre
American social behavior. Things Americans might not even notice about
the melange in which they natively dwell.
Were any of Nabokov's America novels explicitly about death? N not only
wrote America novels but managed to put together an alternative America
novel.
