to me, this seems as if it is a property of mythos in general: it 
requires broad, universal experience and therefore clear-cut, 
sentimental scenes, much like a movie. in fact, both religion and 
pure entertainment are unique in that they must produce icons, and 
use them to convey the reader to a point of detachment from reality 
"as a process" (all art disconnects the perceiver from reality as it 
"exists physically").
