What does Pynchon do?

I like the way he phrases it in Mason & Dixon, which could be 
described as a prime-time rehash of many of the ideas in GR: there is 
an intellectual conspiracy among us to divide everything into neat 
little boxes, and operate on those as if they were purely abstract, 
when reality itself is more complex (hence his self-dissolving 
style).
