I'm reminded of old Mme Cambremer's enthusiasm over Chopin at the salon
of Mme Verdurin. (sodom and gomorah)

cried with a nasal  twang . . .

Proust was Pynchon's forerunner in satirizing changes in musical and
other artistic tastes and fashions.
