The subject heading here was all that stopped me from
resorting for the first time ever to that delete all
box at the top of yr Yahoo! inbox column.  Having hard
enough time making time for Pynchon, so ...

"ULTIMATE SPINACH turned into a 'Frankenstein's
Monster' for me.  I began having troubles with the
band almost from the moment I put it together.  My
first mistake was pretending that I knew what I was
doing.  At that point, I had no idea how to form a
band...much less, how to run one!  I put people
together without auditioning them first or getting to
know them.  I had nothing in common with the rest of
the band...and they had absolutely no concept of what
I was trying to do musically.  How could they?  Geoff
and Richard weren't even full-time musicians and at
the time I met them, they were playing in local
Country bands on weekends.  They were, also, quite
conservative and let me know, on a number of
occasions, that they didn't even LIKE hippies or what
they represented.  Barbara was a just-graduated
Catholic high school virgin who I met at an 'open mic'
at THE UNICORN.  None of them had ever even had a
'psychedelic' experience!"
