Iraq, like it or not, is the model at the moment--for human rights, for
WMD and proliferation, for economic cooperation, for so called nation
building, for the war on terrorism. Clearly the people living there are
suffering and in need of relief. Of course that is true of may peoples
in the world, but Iraq has enormous potential, big risks too, but huge
potential. I can think of no nation has a much potential for success.
Get rid of Saddam and Iraq could be the model of Nation building.
Compared with Afghanistan (little to no potential, but risk is also low)
Iraq is the best place to invest the UN resources right now. Can it be
done peacefully. We will have to wait and see. But step one is to get
rid of Saddam. He has to go one way or another.
