Yes. And that is why there is so much bickering about 'what Pynchon says'
because he says a lot, in scores of voices, from scores of perspectives, to
present a rather strangely 'realistic' view of the complexity of it all.

I wasn't suggesting that Pynchon's views are never discernible. Only that
because he presents so many views, through the voices of so many characters,
that it is easy for readers who hold a given view to find that view
presented by a character and then to assume that it is Pynchon's view
because they want it to be. I have as yet to see any participant on this
list get all pissed at a view Pynchon is putting forth in his fiction. It's
very easy to find yourself represented in his fiction. He's got most of us
covered.
