No, we are not here. We are typing out messages on the internet. 
We can type whatever we like. We can type and send messages about
pynchon or 
bush or jesus. can you imagine? imagine if a jesus freak starting typing
messages about how jesus is Our christ and lord. jbframe would and tim
would run the guy off the list in a new york minute. this is a pynchon
list. P y n c h o n. pynchon. 
i can say pynchon is an asshole. because this is the pynchon list. but
this is not the bush list. there are plenty of bush lists. this is not
the iraq list. maybe two messages a day on pynchon is exactly what most
people would prefer to read. if we get back to pynchon this list will be
worth our time. what are you reading? ok, we listed books we are reading
and have read. so what? now what? no discussion of the books. none. why
not? 
at least two people need to have the same book open. the best chances of
that happening? 
the newspaper? no. a book about pynchon?
