Also, does anyone remember which Star Trek (original series I think) it was
that found the crew of the Enterprise attacked by an entity that fed on
fear?  I think Kirk or someone figured out that the only way to defeat this
all-consuming entity was to laugh at it...anyone know the reference here or
am I simply making it up from partial cloth?  in any case, this is what
orange alert reminds me of...the undermining presence of the fear monster!

Yup. It put the Klingons and the Enterprise crew together, took away their
modern weapons, and armed them with swords in order to prolong the terror.

We are now supposed to line one room of our dwelling with plastic sheeting
and duct tape (made with petroleum products).  I'm not kidding. Store a
three day supply of water and power bars or some such nonsense. Keep a
flashlight and radio with fresh batteries.
