Man....
I think DeLillo is a fantastic writer in many ways. He is a master at
constructing sentences, his prose is amazing. Has a lot of useful stuff to
say.
But try as I might, I hate, and I mean *hate* his dialogue. I think it
sounds forced, pretentious, and grating to the extreme. Especially in "White
Noise." I want to go through every DeLillo novel and bitch-slap all his
characters until they shut the fuck up. And "Ratner's Star," too. What can
you do with a character whose first words are, "My mouth is saying hello?"
Argh! Kill, kill, kill.
