One of the basic tenets of postmodernism is that a text, or 
justification and social script, exists in pair to a subtext, or 
actual agenda of what's going here.

Here, on the surface, some people are jibing at me for not esteeming 
them competent *as a group* to deal with a certain theory.

Underneath, it's territorial defense.
