Look, Mr. Anus -- I cannot conceive of any non-pejorative reason why you
won't respond to this! Since you have arrived here, you have made numerous
provocative claims, and you have done a lot to alienate some people. But as
for myself, I have yet to respond to you in any way other than polite
debate. So I will continue that now, and hope you won't label me as a
monkey.
This forum contains numerous cantankerous people who disagree with each
other constantly. There is no hierarchy, no social order, and no one is
angry because you are "challenging" accepted norms. In fact, you have yet to
actually issue a real challenge -- you have merely made an unsupported
statement. Though it is a provocative statement, your obvious attempts to
distance yourself from it both render it meaningless and place your own
credibility at stake. That is why people have "ganged up" on you, not
because of any substantial claim you've made, but because it *appears* that
you are indiscriminately writing intellectual checks that you then refuse to
cash.
And as for your claims that this is not the right audience, you won't even
explain the thought behind this equally provocative statement. Hell, I can't
imagine a better audience -- most of us are Joyceans, all of us like to
debate, and none of us are afraid of a little controversy.
You state that Joyce "sold out" on "Portrait." You also imply, through
previous statements, that he sold out altogether. Now, I have an issue with
that -- but I am certainly willing to hear your side.
So, what's it going to be then, eh?
